Halloween On The Marshwalk

“Halloween on the MarshWalk” is a beloved annual Halloween tradition along the waterfront in Murrells Inlet, SC. The event draws families, locals, and visitors to stroll the MarshWalk, enjoy food and drink specials, trick-or-treating, and costume contests for both kids and adults.

It’s considered one of the MarshWalk’s longest-running and most festive events.

Here’s how the night typically unfolds:

  • 5:00 PM — Trick-or-treating begins along the MarshWalk for kids.
  • 6:00 PM — Children’s Costume Contest at the Pirate Statue in front of Drunken Jack’s. Categories include Most Creative, Best Group, Funniest. Kids 2 and under may compete for a special “Awes Applause” award.

  • 7:00 PM — Adult Costume Contest starts.
  • Registration window for adult contest: 7:00–8:30 PM between Wahoo’s and Drunken Jack’s. Must register during this window to be eligible.
  • Judging & cash/prize awards: Over $4,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded in multiple categories (Best Duo, Best Group, Best Individual, Big & Bulky, Murrells Inlet themed, Honorable Mention).
  • Final Judging Location & Time: Judging concludes at 9:30 PM at Sloppy Jose’s Cantina & Seafood Grille (or nearby, depending on year).

During the event, the eight MarshWalk restaurants (Bovine’s, Wahoo’s, Drunken Jack’s, Creek Ratz, Dead Dog Saloon, The Claw House, The Wicked Tuna, Sloppy Jose’s) typically offer food and drink specials.
